Got milk? A Failure? And a good appt

Ok. So we had our prenatal class on breastfeeding. Wow....That's a whole lot of information to take in...Really it is....

1 baby feeds 8-12 times in a 24 hr period, and multiply that by 2 and that's up to 24 times in 24 hrs. Yikes! Truth is, I'm a little nervous about breastfeeding. How will I know they are hungry? How will I know they are getting enough? How will I know if I can breastfeed?

Like most women, we hope we can BF, but it will not be the end of the world if I can't. I plan on expressing too, so that DH can bond with the babies as well.

So I've decided not to buy a double electric pump until I know for sure that I can BF, and we aren't going to buy nursing bras until we know my size. I have packed some sports bras to wear home from the hospital.

Well we got the official news at our OB appt on Jan 14 (30 weeks). I failed my 2hr GTT. Not really sure what that means but I have to attend a diabetic class Monday morning at 8:00 am (Not to mention cutting into my prime sleeping time). Will report back. As for the OB appt. Things are progressing nicely. Uterus is measuring 41 weeks (that explains my extreme uncomfy-ness). So I made it to 30 weeks...MILESTONE achieved! Yay! Now my goal is to 34 weeks....Dr mentioned that since the pregnancy has been going so well, we better up the appts to once a week just in case. Things are getting pretty tight in my belly.

I am still able to make it out of the house with DH 2-3 times a week, as long as the outing isn't very long. I have having a hard time sitting in the car, and walking for long periods. I've also graduated to yoga pants everyday when we go out, none of my other pants are fitting anymore. At home, it's pjs.

Since I am at home all the time I sleep, or watch tv, or search motherhood info on the net, play video games, read, etc. I make sure to take a shower or a bath everyday as well as get up and walk around the house as much as I can manage....

Stretch marks are still coming, but motherhood will all be worth it, so not too worried. I can still manage to shave my legs by myself, but my vajayjay it's getting very difficult. I get DH to help out where he can, but mostly it looks like a really bad lawnmowing job.

Babies movements are increasing in intensity, but no real contractions yet (at least I don't think so). My belly is always super tight, so hard to tell when things cramp up....

Not much longer now...In the home stretch

30 weeks already? Well, I'm guessing it has felt like eternity to you but man your pregnancy has flown by in my eyes!

I couldn't imagine having to BF two babies because one is a challenge, but please rest assured knowing that they will definitely tell you when they are hungry and you will be able to tell if they aren't satisfied. I have the medala pump in style double pump and its great- but renting one from the hospital is also a great option!

Best wishes for lasting another 4 weeks at the least!

Yay for 30 weeks. That is fantastic!!! As for breast feeding. It is a challenge with two and if they are born early, they may have feeding and latching issues but you can always express 100% of thier milk. That is what I have done. They have had zero formula and I pump 7 times a day to make enough for both of them. I used the pump in the hospital until they were brought home and then I rented a pump for a while before purchasing mine. If you have a goal to breast feed it can be done. Now Riley is back at the breast but also drinks expressed milk too. Let me know if you have any questions about pumping/breast feeding twins. Keep up the good work!!!
